Happy October!

Thank you to everyone who attended Open House!  I really enjoyed meeting and talking to each of you.  I am looking forward to an exciting and wonderful year with your children.

We had another great week in second grade! Your children are doing an awesome job retelling fiction texts using the five finger retell.  They have built their reading stamina and have made it to 20 minutes!  We also moved onto our next math module and it focuses on place value (ones, tens, hundreds), counting, and comparing numbers to 1,000.  We have been so busy learning - even despite the power outage this week!  Below you will see a photo of our class reading to self, reading to someone, and playing math fact games on the iPads in the hallway because we didn't have power in our classroom for the first few hours of school.  Our class also worked together to make a poster for the first annual PBIS poster competition! You can see a few students working on this poster out in the photograph from the hallway during the power outage.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!
